So… I picked this up cheap on eBay thinking it was a screenplay and didn’t realize until I received it that it is actually the stage play.

Anyway, there’s some interesting history attached to this script, enough so that rather than toss it on my shelf for dust collecting, I figured I’d scan it and share it here for those interested.

It’s from the estate of Mark Herron, best known as the fourth husband of Judy Garland, and has his personal handwriting and notes written in pencil on several pages. This version was for the 1956-57 revival of Major Barbara directed by the Charles Laughton. And as legend goes, Herron was supposedly dropped from the cast when he declined Laughton’s invitation to become his bedmate for the duration of the play’s run.

The description from IBDB says that this play is supposed to have four acts, but this script only has two. Not sure why…
